Abstract Paul G. Finnman was a former student of Augustana College. Finnman was originally from Nebraska, and graduated as a member of the class of 1939. Abstract The Tufve Nilsson Hasselquist papers, 1840-1988 and undated, primarily documents the personal and professional life of the second president of Augustana College, Tufve Nilsson Hasselquist. Hasselquist was born in Sweden in 1816 and traveled to America in 1852. Before assuming the presidency of the college in 1863, Hasselquist was the president of the Augustana Synod, the editor of a Swedish-language newspaper, and a pastor. Abstract Gustav Stolpe (1833-1901) was a well-known and successful Swedish musician and composer by the time Augustana College invited him to direct its music program in 1882. Stolpe graduated from Stockholm, Sweden’s Royal Conservatory of Music with a degree of Music Director at the age of 22. He composed and performed music for organ, piano and violin and toured Sweden accompanying internationally recognized soprano, Jenny Lind.
