American Association of University Women, Rock Island-Moline Branch records

Overview The American Association of University Women encourages equality for women and girls in educational, social, political, and economic situations. The AAUW Rock Island-Moline Branch was founded on November 13, 1909. The collection contains the group's records, including yearbooks, minutes of AAUW Board meetings (August 2003-June 2005) and 1 newsprint article (column about member Bea Fritz).

American Chemical Society, Illinois-Iowa Section records

Overview Materials in this collection include a constitution, meeting minutes, financial records, attendance records, membership and guest lists, and correspondence all bound into books, as well as a calendar and unbound membership lists. From 1917-1923 the organization was known as the Tri-City Chemist’s Club, and was succeeded by the Illinois-Iowa Section of the American Chemical Society in 1923.

O. Fritiof Ander papers

Overview Oscar Fritiof Ander was born in Sweden in 1903, and immigrated to the United States in 1921. He attended Augustana College, and graduated in 1926 with his bachelor’s degree. Ander returned to teach history at the college in 1930, and became the head of the department in 1935. He was a member of several historical societies, including the Augustana Historical Society. Ander retired from his position in 1968, and returned to Sweden. He died in California in 1978, where he had been vacationing....

Dorothy Anderson collection on missionary work in Tanzania

Overview This collection consists of books owned by Dorothy Anderson. Anderson was a student at Augustana College and a missionary in Africa. The books are primarily about missionary work in Africa. There are several Swahili and Iramba dictionaries and grammar books, as well as several Lutheran texts translated into African vernaculars.

Overview Josef Alfred Anderson (also spelled Joseph in some records) was born on July 10, 1868, in Lommaryd, Sweden. He immigrated to the United States in 1876, and began attending Augustana College and Theological Seminary in Rock Island, Illinois. Anderson earned his bachelor’s from the college in 1888, and his master’s in 1891. He then attended the seminary, and graduated in 1892. Anderson was ordained on June 5, 1892, in Lindsborg, Kansas. Netta Bartholomew Anderson papers

Overview Netta C. Bartholomew Anderson was one of the first six women to graduate from Augustana College, earning her degree in 1894. She was active in student groups at Augustana and remained active in the Rock Island community and with the Augustana Alumni Association after graduating. She was an early proponent of women's rights and a prolific writer and researcher. Her topics of interest included the role of women in society, women's history, Rock Island County history, and early Illinois history....

Peggy Anderson papers

Overview Peggy Anderson was a graduate of Augustana College, journalist, and best-selling author. She is known for her book, Nurse, which chronicles the working life of a nurse in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Peggy Anderson papers contains one manuscript draft of “In These Hands,” one plaque, 48 5 ¼” floppy disks (primarily containing chapter drafts of an unidentified manuscript labeled “Dad” and computer backups), and seven published books (added to Alumni collection).
